Following a burglary to a home in Exeter last week (19/01/16) please could all homeowners ensure that their homes are secured when leaving them, that any valuables are stored securely wherever possible and that photographs and serial numbers are kept of high value or sentimental items (www.immobilise.com is a free and useful website on which to record serial numbers).

Could people also please be aware of any suspicious cold callers to their homes stating that they are doing research into the Asian or Chinese communities as it appears that these communities could be being specifically targeted.

If homeowners are not happy with the legitimacy of any visitors or if anyone is a victim of crime please ensure that this is reported to the police and obtain any details of suspects vehicles where possible. Please be assured that any matters reported to the police will be dealt with sensitively however if anyone feels uncomfortable reporting directly to 101, please make contact with your local diversity officer via diversitydevon@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk If it is an emergency or crime in progress please use 999.
