Thank you for writing. That would be great I would be happy to help. What days/times are you available and where do you prefer to meet e.g. Sst Sidwell’s community centre? at the moment I am able to help in the daytime or evenings, however this might change soon because of work commitments in the day. I look forwards to your reply.
I am available to offer English language conversation practice for someone. I am a native speaker and live in Exeter. I am free in the evenings but can be flexible about time. I have also been learning Spanish for the last month, so would welcome the opportunity to improve my basic skills with any Spanish speakers. I would also be interested to learn about other languages and cultures.

What does Promoting Equality look like in 2016?
We know that people are individuals with a multitude of identities, experiences, thoughts and feelings. And we as workers / practitioners / citizens are looking at the world through our own unique lens which sometimes contains conflicting interests / biases / prejudices as well as compassion, curiosity and a commitment to social justice.
How can we challenge discrimination without putting a person on the defensive, and instead create the conditions for genuine opportunities for change of attitude and practice?
This workshop will encourage you to explore what you know and do already, what your strengths and resources are in promoting equality.

Four of Devon Grapevine & Olive Tree Association’s volunteer English teachers have just spent a few days in Exeter’s twinned Russian city of Yaroslavl. During the trip, Victoria Furtado, Bruce Freeman, Jan Honey and Paul Vass, visited a number of Russian schools and had the opportunity to teach some classes and meet fellow Russian English teachers. The teachers also ran some teacher training workshops for their Russian colleagues and were involved in a variety of cultural events arranged by the Exeter- Yaroslavl Twinning Association (EYTA).
It was a wonderful trip and a very rewarding experience. The Russian host families and everyone in Yaroslavl connected to EYTA and beyond, were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Russia is a fascinating place to visit – give it a try! Some Yaroslavl members of EYTA will be visiting Exeter sometime in July 2016. We’re really looking forward to meeting them and providing the same warmth and hospitality.
